I'm not so familiar with the Vostro line, but those I've worked on I'm not so keen on. Very serviceable machines, and blazing fast Xeon processors, with capability to support multiple video adapters. If the 490 is not fast enough, look at a T5500 or T7700. Quote from: horusfalcon on August 22, 2018, 05:15:26 PM This is probably personal taste more than anything, but I have a strong preference for Precision Workstations. Some even come with a GT 620 like the one I just got the other day for a family member. The I3 and I5 CPU are both faster then your current CPU. Both have BIOS updates for the spectre and meltdown flaws available and it has faster ram then your current one and the CPU built in GPU is faster then your old video card.

A example for a used computer would be a Dell Vostro 270 or Dell Vostro 470. Īnother option is to just buy a newer computer. If you have a power supply that is at least a 350W or more powerful then a GT 730 or GT 740 is a option as well. The all use about the same power as your old video card and are safe to upgrade to.

Gt 610 is one of the oldest I use in a few old computers but has no compatible problems.GT 710 and GT 720 are some I use in other computers and they work fine as well. Just about any card from the 500, 600 or 700 series that your power supply meats the requirements for should be way faster then your current one. I heard about a few old systems having compatible problems with the PCIE Gen 3 cards that are found in the Nvidia 700 series and newer but that is rare. I looked up your video card info and it looks like just about anything would be faster then it.
